Welcome to our latest week in review here at Fusion One Marketing! Last week our content was about some important digital marketing, writing, and consumer-related topics.
First, on our latest blog, we covered the top
5 most common grammar mistakes and why it matters when communicating with your customers. Double-checking for these mistakes will make your writing sound stronger and more professional.

When some people see
improper apostrophe use, it drives them nuts! Apostrophes should only be used for contractions or to show possession. We like to say that if you’re in doubt, leave the apostrophe out!
For some reason,
choosing between me, myself, and I is one of the biggest grammar struggles. Our tip is to remove the other person from the sentence. First, say it out loud, and then pick the one that sounds right. You wouldn’t say, “Hand I the ball,” thus you also wouldn’t say “Hand Susan and I the ball.”
We also recommend to not
overuse adverbs. Adverbs—those words that often end in -ly—modify verbs. Your verb choices might come off as weak if you use too many of them.
Too often, these last two-word mistakes confuse writers and get misused.
Loose vs. lose and
affect vs. effect always seem to stump people. Just remember: “If your shoelaces are loose, you might lose one of your shoes.” Also, "affect" is a verb while "effect" is a noun.
At the end of the day, you can always use
Grammarly!
Now for the ladies over at marketing mix! They talked about the types of content your consumers want to see on social media and the importance of making connections.

Because of the pandemic, your online audience is looking for ways to get involved and have interactions now more than ever. This means sharing more than just what your product or service is. Here’s a summarized list of content that’s sure to interest your audiences:
- The faces behind the company (employees, brand ambassadors, and business owners)
- Interactive content (hashtags, virtual events, and responses)
- Private groups or Facebook groups
- Support social stances and awareness holidays
- Instagram stickers
- Text-focused graphics and stories
- Cross-posting
- TikTok videos, IGTV reels, and lives
- AR story filters
- Pinterest Today Tab posts
Overall, people, not products are what are winning over consumers. Put your team on social media, create conversations, produce creative content, listen to what others are saying about your industry, and use your platform to build awareness.
