Some children’s specific area of difficulty might be speech itself. What is meant when it is said that speech is delayed in some way is that the child finds it difficult or impossible at present to produce the sounds necessary to converse as they wish. Speech-Language Therapists can help to identify the specific sounds that the child struggles with, and implement a plan to correct the speech patterns.
For other kids, language skills might be the stumbling block. This simply means that the individual can’t seem to express words in word or writing, or maintains some level of difficulty understanding this information as it is presented to them.
