When designing your channel letter sign you have many options to consider in building the most effective sign. One design element you may want to consider is placing a "shroud" or a backing panel behind your letters to enhance the view of the channel letters. This type of panel is especially effective when using reverse lit channel letters as it gives the lighting a place to reflect off of and provides a halo effect to the letters. However, even with front lit channel letters, a panel such as this in back helps the letters appear even more visible and provides the "shroud" or outline effect that accomplishes this look. The panels can be cut to form around your lettering or you can simply use this backing as a frame for the entire sign. The panels are typically made from aluminum and can be finished with a brushed satin or painted to your specifications or PMS colors.
In most situations, a property owner will have to approve the design and some properties have specifications that may not allow for this. Be sure to carefully check your lease agreement and landlord sign requirements to determine if this is something you can explore for your channel letter sign. The designers at 360 Signs can help design and explore ways to use this technique to enhance your channel letter sign.
