What happens when a rooftop air conditioning unit freezes over during the summer? Yes, you read that right, freezes over in the summer! That was the case for one Albuquerque apartment resident. As the ice thawed and refroze, water dripped down the line into her apartment, slowly pooling in her coat closet. One day, she noticed damp carpet where her vacuum cleaner went. Thinking it was something wet from the rain that she had placed in the closet, she shut the door and went on with life. A few days later, the carpet was still wet. Capillary action had caused the water to seep up several items on the floor of the closet. She moved everything out to find soaked carpet, drywall, and mold on the baseboards! She notified her landlord and called STOP Restoration right away! While maintenance figured out the problem and got to work on the AC, STOP Restoration got to work placing a fan to dry out the water, and applying antimicrobial agents to the carpet to prevent any mold from growing in the closet. A couple of days later, the closet was dry, the air conditioner was fixed, and her apartment looked like nothing had happened at all.
