Business Expert Helps You Schedule Properly
Since Realtors work exclusively on commission in almost every scenario, they must be very effective at making sure they are using their time wisely. Realtors must be self-motivated and willing to put in the hours needed to serve their clients and gain new ones, but agents who are master time managers can thrive and get more deals to the closing table.
As a business coach serving Massachusetts and New Hampshire, I provide many services to my clients based on their industry, their current situation and the goals they have for their businesses. When working with Realtors I am not usually the one who helps you show homes, but instead I look at your business as a whole and make recommendations and teach skills based on what you need to reach your goals.
Part of my services for Realtors usually includes building time management skills, and in the sections to follow I will discuss a few aspects of time management training to give you a better idea of how I can help you make the best use of your working hours.
Know Your Goals
The first step in effective time management is understanding your professional and personal goals. If you don’t have goals in place, you will never know what tasks to prioritize. This is a recipe for focusing your energy and resources on the wrong tasks and ultimately will cost you in the long run.
If you are simply trying to get as many closings done as you can, this goal might not be strong enough to build a strategy around. By creating goals you can track over time and make progress toward achieving, you can stay on task and build your schedule around tasks which move you toward these goals.
Use Available Resources
Depending on the size and sophistication of your agency and your local association of Realtors, you likely have a vast number of resources at your fingertips which can help you effectively manage your time. Even if you are working on your own without much support from a broker, you can find ways to automate processes, delegate tasks and keep the important items as your main focus.
The right solutions will depend on your goals and the volume of business you expect to perform, but software to assist with scheduling, AI assistance with processing recent sales and performing comparative analysis and/or outsourcing some tasks to a closing coordinator are all examples of how to effectively use your resources when managing your time.
Say No
Realtors are often pulled in several directions by people who mean well but can take away precious time the agent needs to reach their goals. You must remember it is OK to say no to tasks which detract from your goals. Local associations have several committees which need members, events to assist with and more, and while I’m not saying to abandon all these efforts, limiting yourself to the most important ones will allow you to most effectively manage your time.
