Wall Signage for city of St. Cloud, FL With Allowable Area

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Wall signage is sometimes known as facade signs. The exterior of a commercial building can have unique features and proper measurement is important. The wall signs in St Cloud, FL can be measured a couple of ways for signs to meet code.  Here’s an example of the St. Cloud, FL sign code at this time.

Facade signs. Facade (wall) signs or awning signs are allowed in the following districts: Highway business (HB), business commercial (BC), neighborhood business (NB), professional (P), central business district I and II (CBD-1 and 2), commercial PUD, industrial 1, 2 and 3 (I-1, I-2, I-3):

Front facade signs shall not exceed the greater of either:

1.

An amount equal to ten percent of the area of the front elevation, not including fenced, gated, or open to above additions such as storage or garden centers, up to a maximum of 600 square feet; or

2.

One square foot of sign area per each linear foot of building frontage, not including fenced, gated, or open to above additions such as storage or garden centers, up to a maximum of 600 square feet.

Additional signage may be placed on the side and rear facades of the unit with the total amount not to exceed 50 percent of that permitted on the front facade. So, you may have two signs!

Keep in mind the sign code can change from time to time.  The facade signs can typically be either raceway mounted, sign cans or direct mount letters.  This depends on the building owner and comparable signs in the complex.  We suggest a survey of the property and a lease appendix if applicable to discuss the requirements from the landlord for wall signs.  Commercial building signs can vary by complex.

The design of the wall sign can of course be custom and offer illumination if helpful. If internal illumination is important, we use LED type lights.

If you are interested in Free standing signs or monument signs we can help also. Some of the St. Cloud regulations at this time include the following.

Freestanding signs. Setbacks for freestanding signs shall be measured from the property line to the nearest drip edge of the sign. Freestanding signs are allowed in the following districts:
