A trip to the hospital can be a scary event for everyone involved. St. Michael's Medical Center, located in Newark, New Jersey, realized this and took steps to make their intensive care unit more comfortable. In a project we completed for this hospital, we laid frosted vinyl on the windows looking in to their intensive care unit. Frosted vinyl is different from regular vinyl, as it isn’t entirely opaque. The frosted vinyl creates a sandblasted look and still lets light into the room. Putting the vinyl on windows creates a bigger sense of privacy for both the patients and the doctors in the intensive care unit. This way everyone in the room is put more at ease and doctors can focus more on what’s going on in the room, rather than what’s going on outside of it.
