You may have heard that Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway has purchased the Prudential Real Estate Agent Network and started its own Berkshire Hathaway Home Services. In doing so it has been migrating Prudential franchises over to the Berkshire Hathaway Home Services super brand. Such a transition has many hurdles, not the least of which is to rebrand each of the franchise offices, including signage.
In 2014 Custom Sign Source was contacted by what was, at the time, the Prudential Real Estate Agency at 355 Rt. 46, in Mountain Lakes, NJ. They asked us to replace or
convert their existing Prudential Signs to Berkshire Hathaway Home Services signs, conforming to the Berkshire Hathaway Sign Standards Guide. Note the word “convert”. Like many smaller companies Berkshire Hathaway had a budget that we had to work within. The challenge was to convert the existing Prudential double-sided lighted monument sign, which was located near the highway and measured 10 ft. wide and 6 ft high, to a Berkshire Hathaway Home Services sign.
Our expert staff made a site visit and reverse-engineered the existing sign, taking precise measurements of the of the sign cabinet both inside and out. We also measured the outer aluminum pans that contained the Prudential logo that we were replacing with the Berkshire Hathaway logo. We reassembled the existing sign and provided the exact specifications to our supplier.
We had made new 3” deep x .125” gauge bent aluminum pans painted in the custom satin grip guard PMS color to meet the Berkshire Hathaway sign standards. The new logo graphics and lettering were routed out of the new sign face pans and backed with Lexan. The Lexan panels were painted with custom PMS color and mounted to the inside of the pans using threaded studs and nuts.
The new panels fit the existing monument like a glove which helped make the installation go smoothly! The result – the new sign looks great!
