Local Business Coach Offers Management Training
Too often in the business world, a company assumes just because someone is technically proficient and a good employee they will be able to coach, train, oversee and manage others just because they have an important skill. When promoting from within, this is often the thought process, but companies fail to support their talented people with training on management, and they don’t set them up for success.
Rather than setting up new managers to fail, wise business leaders take the time to train them on how to be an effective manager and understand the skills to oversee others needs to be refined and trained for someone to succeed in a leadership role.
As a business coach, I have worked with companies of many sizes, industries and structures in the Spokane, Washington metro, including the cities of Airway Heights, Spokane Valley and the surrounding areas. It’s a business coach’s role to use their corporate expertise to help the company reach its goals, and there are many services I can provide to clients in pursuit of their goals.
While many of my services pertain to the business itself such as policy and procedure creation, strategic planning and more, a large part of my role is to help owners and business leaders build skills necessary for them to be successful. I can tailor my services to meet the needs of my clients, but some skills I often cover include leadership, time management, conflict resolution and more.
Usually, I begin skills training with company leaders and then we try to spread these essential skills through their companies. Many leaders have chosen to train their entire management teams, and the results have been fantastic. In these training sessions, we cover essential traits of a good manager and build on skills to help people succeed in leadership roles.
When I speak to a management group, we always discuss the mindset of a manager. A manager must be able to delegate effectively and equip an employee to do the delegated task. The change in mindset from someone who is on the ground doing the work to someone who oversees other people is so important for managers, because if they never relinquish the duty of the job itself, they can’t effectively lead.
Managers must also understand how to motivate their team members and clearly explain what is expected of them. We cover communication skills in detail as part of management training because a manager is the conduit from senior leadership’s goals to the people performing tasks on the ground. When a manager can convey instructions clearly and help people understand how their jobs impact their co-workers and the people around them, it can help the entire team perform at a high level.
Don’t leave your best people to struggle in management roles because they aren’t equipped with essential skills to lead others. If you think management training can benefit your organization, I would love to help. Please give me a call or fill out the form on my website to learn more today.
