Interested in new ADA signs for your local business?

Take a look at how we updated the ADA signs for Avon’s local police station!

ADA signs are crucial for any business or building accessible to the general public. The importance of these signs is to accommodate individuals with special needs and comply with the Americans with Disability Act. ADA signs can provide a way for disabled people to navigate any building without asking for help from strangers.

G-Force Signs & Graphics specializes in ADA-compliant signs, and so, when the Avon Police Department wanted new ADA signs for their patrol barracks building, we created an effective signage system for them. It included all the signs they needed to access the building for special needs people.

Types of ADA-Compliant Signs

G-Force Signs & Graphics has many available options for ADA signs, but the police department did not need all of them. Let us first share the available ADA sign options that can be used, and then we will talk about the signs we customized for the police department building. Here are the most common ADA signs used in the buildings:

For Navigation: Whether it’s to notify the visitor about a specific room or let them know about stairs ahead, navigational signs are crucial. Not only for disabled individuals but others as well. ADA directional signs should have braille written with the text so that people with sight disabilities can navigate safely through the building.

For Restrooms: The most common place that requires ADA signage is a public restroom. Finding a restroom accessible to disabled individuals is as crucial as having one in a building. Not every disabled person can find a restroom, and proper signage can help them a lot, especially in a crowded place.

For Guidance: ADA signs at the entrance are important to let special-needs individuals know they are welcome to enter the building. It may seem redundant, but it’s an important part of any building’s signage system. Other signs include elevator signs, room number signs, etc.

Avon Police Department’s Updated ADA Signs

The local police department of Avon wanted some new ADA and evacuation signs for their barracks building, and they put G-Force Signs & Graphics on the job. We learned about the clients’ preferences before working on the signs. They wanted custom signs to compliment their interior design and highlight the theme.

Therefore, they selected the design with a brushed aluminum finish and raised black text with braille, ensuring the signs meet the ADA standards. The signage design also had an accent color matching the color of the door trim. This slight update matched the signs with the interior décor of the building. We also created restroom signs that complied with ADA standards.

For the evacuation signs, we created a sublimated printed map that highlighted the evacuation route from different locations. These signs also had the accent color to match the building décor.

With the new and improved ADA signs, Avon’s local police department made their building more accessible and eye-catching for their visitors, especially those who would feel uncomfortable in a strange setting.
