They say that people that have literary talent, like writers and publicists, have a way with words. Recently we made an outdoor building sign for a florist in San Jose, CA, that is really good with flowers. You could say that they have 'A Way With Flowers'. In fact, it's even their name! A Way With Flowers is a great new flower company located in San Jose, CA, so if you are in the area and need flowers, stop by and check them out.
A Way With Flowers contacted us because they wanted to put up a sign above their business so people passing by would know that there was a florist there. But when we sat down to speak with them, and found out that their name is “A Way with Flowers,” we quickly realized that it's just too long to fit above the store and be visible from far away. So in this case we advised them to go in little bit of a different direction.
It's important to brand your business so everybody knows who you are and what your name is. But what is more important is getting new customers to your front door. So we wanted to shorten their name as well as come up with a sign that would be clearly legible from afar, and which people would understand instantly. As you can see in the image above, we recommended that they just go with the simple 'Florist' instead of their full name. It's much easier to read and there's no question about what is sold inside of their store.
Our customer was very happy with their sign, and was very happy with the recommendation that we made. They get walk-in clients that regularly find them because they see their sign. They were so happy, in fact, that they referred us to their neighbor who also called us to make their sign. Tune in again next week for an article about the neighbor's signs that we just installed.
