Skateboarding and Heavy Metal have always been synonymous. Since the days of long hair, leather and insane guitar solos, the grungy and dirty sounds that Heavy Metal produces have paired perfectly with the grit and grime of the skateboard culture. There are two names that represent this essence and have continued to push their art and their genre forward. The 1978 skateboard truck manufacturer based in Santa Cruz, California, Independent Truck Company has collaborated with the thrash metal legends Slayer for their “Indy X Slayer” skate trucks.
Both legendary skate company and the metal band have come to reign the skateboarding and metal community to ignite and bolster the underground scene to smolder like magma from the earth’s core. Professional skateboarders Pedro Delfino, John Worthington, and Cedric Pabich fired up the Nude Bowl for their latest collaboration with SLAYER in their new commercial to promote the long-overdue partnership, which you can now view on the Thrasher Mag Youtube Channel.
The crew spearheaded incredible skating with non-stop crailtap, backside tailslide, alley-oop to backside disaster, and other mind-blowing tricks – while Slayer’s third album and apogees heavy metal record “Reign in blood” plays in the background. Before ending the video, the squad lit the spot and skated the bowl while on fire, making it look gnarly with Slayer’s solo guitar playing. -ShredEverythingRadio
