So far, 2020 has not been a year to celebrate by any means. This will surely go down in the history books as a year of calamity, chaos, and Covid. With so much negativity and despair polluting the life source of so many human beings on a daily basis, how does one individual find something to be thankful for this year?
First things first, turn your negatives into positives. Instead of being upset that you are out of work, find a new hustle. Utilize the time to develop something that can sustain you without depending on someone else writing your paycheck. Get off the couch and exercise. This is a great time to get yourself back into fighting shape! Plus it’s a great release of energy! Start a youtube channel or write a blog. As skateboarders, we are lucky to have a passion that enlists all of our senses and invigorates our soul. Stepping on a board makes all the worlds problems all disappear. From head to toe all of our nervous system is on point to ensure the roll away. Nothing like it in the world!
There are lots of things that can free your mind from the drowning negativity, but not all of us can pull ourselves out of the lake to see the shore. Make sure you reach out to those who may need an extra push to get up. Make sure to get a session together at your local on a regular if it’s allowed. Stay safe of course! If your local skatepark is shut down, the streets aren’t! Go for a cruise, it’ll help.
As you look over the list of things to be grateful for make sure you check off skateboarding and treat your board to a little grind slide or flip. You’ll thank me!
