Covid-19 is continuing it’s reign of terror through the media, particulates, and over all stagnation… The lockdown continues.
The Bay Area, with of a total of nine counties and roughly 8 million people, is steadily becoming a cautionary tale for government and health officials across the nation. Despite Bay Area leaders trying their best to do everything cautiously and by the book, the cases still eventually spiked over the last month and a half, to an average of 877 cases a day at the end of July from 217 a day in mid-June. The Bay Area is still in a better place than many parts of California and other large cities. It had reported a total 53,086 positive cases and 817 deaths on July 31. [Reports the Washington Post]
With all of this said, obviously the schools will be following suit with the rest of the counties and continuing the strenuous lockdown. Distance learning it is! While teachers scramble to update and upload their expertise into a digital language, the kids are left twiddling their thumbs waiting for their teachers to catch up to the level of fluid technology that they have had ingrained since they were toddlers.
Twiddling thumbs equals…. more time! And we have arrived at the point of all this. Distance learning is in place, and this will allow more time for skating. Even if the parks are closed, you have flat ground. If you are bored of flip tricks in your local grocery store parking lot, build a quarter pipe. Plans are all over the web and the hardware stores are still open.
Enjoy this extended summer. A summer where everything is closed and you have to wear a mask where ever you do actually go. Summer regardless. Enjoy yourself and be safe. Go skate!
