For a long, long, long time we have suffered with the same maps, same rails, same lines done by the same characters and the same story lines… we can only chat with Coach frank for so long… We have been longing for the fourth installment to sooth our twitching thumbs and feed our digital skateboarding addiction.
EA Skate 4?
Announced at the very end of EA Play Live, the new Skate game is in its very early stages of development. Not a morsel of gameplay was shown, and even the title Skate 4 was seriously in question. Platforms, servers nor any details of any kind were discussed, the reveal was limited to the simple fact that a new Skate game is on the way. Despite our despondency, this was all we were given.
“We’re back, we’re doing it–Skate is happening,” creative director Cuz Parry said in the announcement video, which he refers to the new game as “Skate.”
Game director Deran Chung added, “We’ve been waiting years to make the right game, at the right time, with the right idea.” Chung cautioned that it’s “really, really early” for the new Skate game, so we should not expect any nollie tre flip back tails anytime soon.
Parry thanked the fans for their extreme enthusiasm and utmost patience. He went on to say that the new Skate is happening simply because “You commented this into existence,” he said. WE DID IT! Hashtags like #EASKATE4 #MakeEASkateAgain have gone viral and obviously snagged the attention of some executives at EA.
Artwork has been leaked online, but there is never much credibility on the internet. As of now, there is no official word yet on when the new Skate will be released or which platforms it will come to. Neither Chung nor Parry shared any details on what the “right idea” actually is, but the ball is officially rolling. We will keep you up to date on this!! Looking forward to skating some new spots!
