Puffy tongues, busy patterns, small wheels and gigantic pants.
The 90’s.
DC Shoes was a powerhouse and considered a staple in the skateboarding industry. Few brands had hold of the culture like DC Shoes. With Pro riders like Rob Dyrdek, Danny Way, Colin McKay, Ryan Gallant, Stevie Williams, Anthony Van Engelen, to mention a few, DC was able to capture the attention of many kids from a vast variety of backgrounds.
Since then, DC has had it’s ups and downs with the industry. Most brands who reach the pinnacle of fame and start branching outside the skate industry, usually find themselves dwindling in the eyes of their once loyal consumer base. Skater’s are funny this way. They will die for the brand, until their friend who doesn’t skate starts wearing the brand, at which point the brand becomes too commercialized to be acceptable.
DC was no exception to the rule. As the popularity of something rises, it’s the brands duty to continually strive to retain the essence of what brought that brand to the level of popularity it now holds. The folks over at DC have done their job well. They continue to raise the bar in quality and innovation.
“IN 2019, DC SHOES HONORS A TRUE BRAND ICON AND PIONEER OF MODERN STREET SKATING WITH AN ALL NEW KALIS S [….] IT’S A COLLISION BETWEEN ORIGINAL STYLE AND MODERN TECHNOLOGY.” dcshoes.com
The new Kalis is a beauty. They come in multiple colors. So, if you are not digging the flashy red or blue, you can go with the more subtle white or black.
The construction of this shoe is unbeatable. The stitching is on point and the slide protection is right where you want it. Flicks will go for days on these bad boys! The high lace set is mandatory and when you throw in covered lace guards, you take me right back to the ingenues thought process of the original Kalis shoe. This shoe is a must-try for any skater who is looking for a long lasting and comfortable shoe.
Thank you Josh and DC Shoes!!
