No Cool Air If your air conditioner unit is on, but the air isn’t cold the most likely culprit is a frozen condenser coil. AC units use a chemical called freon as a refrigerant to cool air before forcing it through the home using a system of ducts, but when the freon levels drop it can cause the system to “freeze up.” A frozen air conditioner unit happens when the system goes into overdrive trying to create cool air, and eventually the frozen coil will stop the cooling of air entirely. If you notice ice around the lines connecting the unit to your home, turn the system off. When it thaws, our team can check to see if there is a freon leak before recharging the system with new refrigerant. This will correct the issue and get cool air flowing again. Water Leaks When an AC unit runs, it creates condensation as a result of the cool air being produced. This condensation can build up over time and ultimately result in a great deal of water being produced. This water is removed from the home through PVC pipes called condensation lines. When these pipes get stopped up from dirt, dust or other substances, they can back up and cause a water leak. Uneven Cooling Air is moved through the home through ducts, and these ducts are very important to the performance of the system. Ducts can become clogged or partially blocked with debris, which can cause air to fail to reach certain spaces in your home. If certain places in your home feel warmer than others, the ducts could be to blame.
