Signage FAQs | What should you look for when engaging a sign company for the fir…

As with any professional service you are considering, you should do your homework on a sign company before agreeing to engage in any work.

  • The sign company should have references from other clients and a portfolio of completed work to show you. Newer companies will have fewer examples, but will also be working hard to win your business and referrals.
  • Ask about the qualifications of their design staff, years of service and certifications for the installers, certificates of insurance to protect you against damage, and always insist upon a permit for an exterior sign.
  • Visit completed installations to see how the work holds up.
  • Ask to observe an upcoming installation: Do they arrive on time? Are they properly attired for the work being done and for the work environment? Were the installers prepared with the right tools and hardware? Do they clean up after themselves? Is the client satisfied with the work?
  • Ask to visit the production area and look at work in process. Speak with the design staff and observe the working conditions and equipment maintenance. A shop that is clean, orderly and safe will be more likely to produce a quality product.

The bottom line is that the sign for your business is not a small expense and is something you will be living with for a long time. It is the first impression to your potential clients and sets the tone for your brand and image. Chose your sign company well, and you will have a great marketing partner in your business
