Portland, OR – Home Restoration: Mold Repair / Remediation Tools: Boroscope

Posted in: Industry News

A boroscope is a tool we use to look inside walls, ceilings and other places that are hard to reach in order to inspect the space to see if there is any mold growing.

Mold removal / mold remediation is an important service that we provide because it can be, in some cases, a matter of life and death for the people living or working in the building or home. Some forms of mold are perfectly harmless to humans and animals, but there are other types of mold that and be very harmful to humans, with symptoms ranging from mild irritation and breathing disorders, all the way up to molds that can lead to serious illnesses and even death.

In addition to mold remediation, we also offer water damage, smoke damage and fire damage repair and restoration.

A boroscope is basically a long snake-like tool that has a camera mounted on the end of it. Take a look at the picture in this article. You can see that the camera is very small on the end of a bendable wand that allows us to turn and bend the camera in a lot of different directions, and maneuver it into tight and hard-to-reach spaces, allowing us to see if there is mold growing where you can’t see.

Some boroscopes are fairly simple with a low resolution camera mounted on the end of a snake or bendable stick-like object. Other boroscopes are a lot more high-tech, with high-resolution cameras and digital screens for viewing. Some can even connect to your smartphone through an app.

Mold can grow inside your walls and you don’t even know it.  It can leak out through holes and spaces and air ducts, and enter spaces where people unknowingly breathe them in.  And that can lead to health problems with your family, friends, customers or employees.

We offer free inspections for mold remediation as well as our other restoration services. If you have any questions, or think that you might have mold in your home or business, don’t hesitate to give us a call. It is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to mold.
