The thing about coffee shops is that the atmosphere is just about as important as the quality of the brew. Sure there's a big difference between choking down coffee flavored mud and savoring a perfectly dark French roast, but the reason that so many people are willing to go out and pay several dollars each morning (or afternoon) for something they could get for next to nothing at home, relies heavily on how enjoyable the atmosphere of the coffee house is. This might be one of the reasons that coffee shop signage tends to be so creative.
