Tile Recycling

Do you want to contribute to a greener environment? Participate in our ceiling tile recycling program today!

At Richard S. Burns & Inc, we have designed a program in partnership with Armstrong World Industries to facilitate the disposal and recycling of ceiling tiles. You can make direct arrangements with Armstrong by calling the Armstrong Recycling Center at 1-877-276-7876 or find a consolidator in your area. Moreover, you can download a detailed official Armstrong guide to the program here.

Recycling Old Ceiling Tiles Pays Off

We all wish to make our renovation and revamping projects as environmentally friendly as possible, or we should at least. Nevertheless, one of the simplest techniques to do just that is through recycling your old ceiling tiles.

Since the inception of the ceiling tile recycling program nearly 22 years ago, Armstrong Ceiling Solutions has successfully prevented almost 200 million square feet of old ceiling material from ending up in landfills. That’s equal to saving over a million tons of raw materials. Armstrong then uses the old tiles to develop new, Ceiling-2 ceiling panels.

Benefits of Recycling Old Ceiling Tiles

There are several benefits of recycling old ceiling tiles, including the ones listed below.

  • Your job site can be much more efficient when there are no crushed tiles scattered around. This ultimately results in safer working conditions.
  • The environmental benefits from recycling ceiling tiles are huge. For instance, recycling just one ton of tiles saves 1,892 gallons of potable water, 11 tons of raw materials, and sufficient electricity to power a home for around 1.4 months.
  • The Ceiling Tile Recycling Program can contribute to LEED® points in the Construction Waste Management portion of the Materials and Resources credit.

How to Recycle Office Ceiling Tiles?

To simplify the process of recycling ceiling tiles, we suggest:

  • Curate a construction waste management strategy. Incorporate provisions for ceiling recycling in your project details. You should start off by downloading a guide specification from armstrong.com/recycling.
  • Call the Armstrong Recycling Center at 1-877-276-7876 to register your ceiling tile recycling project. When you get a prompt, press 1, and after that, press 8.
  • Go through the material and building requirements with the Recycling Center. An asbestos survey, the date on which the building was constructed, and a signed copy of the Recycling Agreement are needed to authorize your recycling project. Make sure that your project is approved before you start removing the ceiling tile for recycling purposes.
