Recently, we were working with HEICO Construction Group here locally in Kansas City. They called us looking to put up a nice lobby sign that gave them a sharp, crisp image inside their office. They wanted the lobby sign to be LED backlit and already had a power outlet positioned for its placement behind the reception desk.
In the image to the left, you can see a picture of the LED backlit lobby sign we made for HEICO construction group. In this picture you can see how adding the LED backlit affects to the lobby sign grab attention much more than those without. It’s hard to miss! In the picture below, you can see the previous sign over the reception desk. The gold channel letter sign did not provide much contrast on the beige wall and did not have any affects to draw attention to their name. As you can see, their new sign looks great.
Heico Construction Group in Kansas City, Missouri is a great company that has had a positive impact on our community for years. Made up of seven total companies, they serve the broad needs of the commercial and industrial construction markets, from engineering and design, to each step in making it a final product, they do it all.
To build this lobby sign, we used a polished aluminum panel with digital printed graphics applied onto a piece of clear acrylic as our two main pieces. We installed LED lighting strips to the back of the aluminum panel, wired it to a simple power source and attached the power source to the sign. Because of the added width of the power source, we used stackable standoffs to make sure it mounted properly. Using high quality graphics on the clear acrylic with the polished aluminum contrast and the lighting affects gave their sign a very sharp, clean look.
When choosing what direction to take your lobby sign, it’s important to consider multiple factors. First, what do your branding guidelines say? While some compromise happens when options are limited, graphics on a nice substrate like clear acrylic can really open up your choices. Secondly, what color is the surface where the sign will be mounted? Color contrast is always to be considered and can be adapted with a secondary substrate, like the second panel of polished aluminum we used with HEICO. What affects are you using? LED backlit affects help create a very nice ambience to your corporate image. And this impression on your customers will definitely leave an impact.
