One of the biggest messes in the world is when a tenant moves out. Property managers in East Bay and its neighboring regions can not only help make your relocation easier but can give you suggestions to make the move environmentally responsible. Whether you are moving to another house in the same city or are moving out of state, there are some simple things you can do to make sure you leave the rented home in a reasonable condition and get your security deposit back.

The Green Moving Out List

Here’s a look at some top tips on making your relocation eco-friendly from experienced property managers in East Bay:
  • Use eco-friendly packing materials: Did you know that cardboard accounts for a huge percentage of the solid waste in our landfills? So, when you are packing your things for the move, consider using reusable boxes. These boxes can easily be relocate homerented or bought and can be used almost 500 times before they outlive their utility. However, if you still prefer cardboard boxes, you can get used ones that are still in perfect condition from your local grocery store, liquor store or retail outlet. You can even order such boxes online and have them delivered to your doorstep for free. Bubble wrap and other plastic wraps are also avoidable. Use your towels, sheets, blankets and tablecloths. You will need to bring them along anyway, so why not use them to pack rather than adding another box of all your linen. This is a good option for protecting your glassware and ends up saving you money too.
  • Dispose of unwanted household items responsibly: Whenever you pack up to move, you suddenly discover all sorts of household goods that you’d even forgotten you owned. Any items that are still in a usable condition but are no longer Green property managementneeded can be donated to charity.  This will not only lighten your load but help others in need. Yard sales could also be a good idea. However, leaving furniture on the curb “for free” more often than not leads to soggy sofas and mattresses cluttering up the street. Donate anything you can’t sell. Then there is the problem of electronic waste. If you need to get rid of your television, computer or any other electronic item, you need to do it responsibly because e-waste cannot be dumped in landfills. These also make good candidates for donation. The same holds true for tires and mattresses. They can be recycled and used for different purposes.
  • Check for toxic chemicals: Most of us have some item that is considered toxic under either the state or the federal law. The first thing to do is to check with your property manager in East Bay for what is considered toxic in your area. The reason for this is that such items cannot be thrown as part of your usual trash and neither can they be flushed down the toilet or Environment Friendly Relocationdrain. At the same time, make sure you pick up eco-friendly cleaning products to clean up the home before you move out as well as your new rented home, before you move in.
Most importantly, remember that less is more when you are moving. So, take only the things that you know you will use and sell or donate everything else. Travelling light is always recommended. You could also ask property managers in East Bay to recommend a green moving company to help you relocate.
