Today we are going to talk about a quick fix at home you can make to clear your clogged kitchen sink drain. When you have a kitchen plumbing line that is backing up into another fixture, like a refrigerator line or small bar, you know you have a clog. In some cases, the kitchen line can back up into other places in your home where it finds the least resistance, like out of an old washing machine line for example.

In order to fix or prevent this problem, you will want to find the kitchen’s “clean-out” line, or the route built into your home that allows you access to clean out the kitchen line. A common problem homeowners come across at their clean-out can be found with the “jim cap” or cover that is placed over the clean-out pipe. If it is tightened too much, the cap will not pop off if pressure begins to build like it will if there is a sewage or foreign object buildup in the pipe.

One of the most common problems homeowners encounter with their pipes is a clog. Whether this clog forms over time, or it is a large grease clog from a poor disposal decision, the pipes will not be able to perform the way you need them to keep the flow of water going out of your home. For these clogs (and just about any others!), a hydro jet is used to descale and empty the pipe of any debris or accumulations.

After the hydro jet cleans out your pipes, pushing any grease or other clogs out through the clean-out, your sinks should work again like new. If your kitchen plumbing is experiencing problems, give Sewer Surgeons a call today at 973-579-3322!
