Newport News, VA – All Grocery Stores Need a Plethora of Signs Everywhere

Posted in: Industry News

Grocery store owners are likely to need various kinds of signs in the course of operating their business. First and foremost, they will need a sign for the exterior of their store. This is most important, to draw the attention of prospective customers and tell them the business is there. It should be large and eye-catching, inviting as opposed to off-putting.

But beyond the obvious, there are many other kinds of signs the grocery store will need. For example, they will need signs for the various departments and areas within the store – restrooms, customer service, produce, bakery, deli, meat, frozen, etc. – so that customers can find their way around the store and efficiently find what they need.

They will also need signs to inform customers about sales and specials, detailing how long the special will last and what the price is for the emphasized items. They will need signs to inform customers of changes to their hours and procedures when these sorts of ordinary changes occur in the course of business. They will need signs to tell customers when the store will be unexpectedly closed, such as for holidays or temporary obstacles, such as remodeling or repairs.

Signs of a more legal nature may also be required in some areas and for some stores, such as signs informing customers of restrictions on certain items, like cigarettes, alcohol, or some medications. These signs would inform prospective customers if they cannot purchase certain items, or have to meet certain criteria in order to purchase them, like presenting identification and proof of age.

These are various signs that might be necessary within the store, but there are also signs that might be needed in the parking lot. If the grocery store has a gas station, there would need to be signs indicating that, as well as gas prices and pump numbers.

Special parking spaces such as handicapped parking, parking for expectant mothers or law enforcement, and parking for grocery pick-up or delivery drivers, will also be necessary. The grocery store will also need signs to indicate where parking is not permitted.

They may also need signs indicating that the property is under video surveillance, or that the safe only contains under a certain amount of cash, or other possible signs that might help to discourage criminal activity.

Some of these signs are obvious and would readily come to mind, but others are of the variety that one would not think of until they realize that they need it, and don’t have it.
