They are housed in downtown San Antonio in a historic building that occupies 35,060 ft.² of space. This building features approximately 750 ft.² of glass from floor to ceiling facing the South and West. As the building was built in the 1920s it offers retrofitted modern commercial glass for interior protection. However, the sun was still admitting radiation and heat that would come through the windows. This solar admittance was damaging the office furnishings, artwork, in creating an uncomfortable work environment for both staff and members. The board room especially was overly warm, and the glare made conducting meetings very difficult. The Executive Director, Torrey Stanley Carleton, contacted our owner looking for a solution to this detrimental solar heat. Our team met with the director to assess the specific needs they had, and an evaluation was performed. We provided a sample of the Huper Optik’s USA patented Nano-Ceramic 30 window film. When we compared the temperature of their current glass and that which had been treated with the window film, there was over a 15° temperature difference. This was the way we were going to go!   Our team wanted a solution that would not only block the heat, glare, and UV rays, we also wanted to maintain the aesthetic of the historical building for the client.
