City Signs was recently contacted by Western Air Supply in San Jose, CA. They were looking for a new sign to go in front of their office building. Together, we decided that the best choice of sign for their company was a freestanding illuminated sign cabinet. These are large, cabinet-like signs that often hold tenet panels and business logos. They are a cost effective alternative to illuminated channel letters which are signs that go directly onto a building face. Freestanding signs are usually made out of aluminum with fluorescent lamps. Once the base is constructed, a stucco type finish can be applied for a more polished look. The sign can also be painted in any color. Finally, freestanding illuminated signs typically have an acrylic or polycarbonate face with cut vinyl graphics of a company logo or artwork.
Western Air Supply’s sign was constructed entirely of aluminum and the base was treated with a Texcoat finish which gave the sign a stucco look. We used acrylic faces and printed cut vinyl graphics to match the company logo. This was an ideal solution for Western Air Supply as the sign can now be seen from street view, and it was also cost effective.
