Project: Custom acrylic flat cut out letters mounted to exterior stone wall
One of the types of signs that we often recommend to customers are acrylic flat cut out letters otherwise called FCOs. FCOs are a great option for many people for several reasons. If illumination is not important, FCOs still have a three dimensional look without the cost of channel or reverse pan channel letters. FCOs can be router cut in a variety of shapes and also can be painted to match any color necessary. The acrylic is durable and the painted finish gives the customer a chance to refresh the sign with a new coat of paint at very little cost after several years. There are also options to have certain finishes such as brushed silver or copper overlaid on top of the letters to give them a richer look.
In addition these letters can be used on interior and exterior walls and can be mounted on a variety of surfaces. One gorgeous FCO sign that City Signs produced was for La Quinta Inn & Suites in San Jose, California. The inn had a water fountain with an inset rock wall where we installed their logo and lettering. The crisp, clean white of the letters sets off beautifully against the dark gray rock. FCOs were the perfect solution for the sign as anything with more depth would have seemed cluttered and bulky.
