Mary Jane’s CBD Dispensary – Memphis | 3 Common Misconceptions About Delta 8 CBD

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of many cannabinoids found in hemp and cannabis. Delta 8 CBD Oil is derived from the industrial hemp plant, which contains very low levels of THC. It is an all natural substance that can be used as a dietary supplement. However, recently there has been some confusion about CBD oil on the internet, so we put together this short article to clear up some of the most common misconceptions about it.

Myth #1: People Use CBD Oil As A Recreational Drug

Delta 8 oil does not get you “high.” While it does contain small amounts (less than 0.3%) of THC delta 9 (tetrahydrocannabinol), an intoxicating and illegal substance, it has such a low concentration that it would be impossible to get “high” from it. The reason delta 9 THC is illegal is because of its psychoactive effects, not because of any dangers associated with its use. Delta 8 oil contains only the non-psychoactive cannabinoid CBD (cannabidiol). It has many benefits and no known side effects at the recommended serving size.

Myth #2: CBD Oil Is Marijuana

The term “marijuana” refers specifically to varieties of cannabis that are grown for their potent, sticky glands that produce THC and other cannabinoids. Industrial hemp does not contain enough THC to get anyone high, even when consumed in large quantities. Hemp oil is an important resource used in cosmetics, plastics, fuel, and food. Hemp seeds are not used to make marijuana. They are sterilized for human consumption then pressed to extract the oil contained within them, leaving behind no THC or other cannabinoids. Marijuana growers are known to create strains containing high levels of THC to produce stronger psychoactive effects in users.

Myth #3: CBD Oil Has No Medicinal Benefits

Delta 8 CBD oil is one of many substances that offers potential health benefits without any intoxicating side effects. It has been shown to help with generalized anxiety disorder, depression, nausea, seizures and other neurological disorders. It can also be used as an anti-inflammatory. Manufacturers often tout these benefits on their packaging but they do not necessarily reflect the views of our organization. Please consult your doctor if you are curious about the potential of delta 8 CBD oil to help with a medical condition.

How do these Cannabinoids Help in Relieving Anxiety?

Clinical studies over the years have concluded that erratic behavior of the Endocannabinoid system (a complex biological system in the mammalian body) is linked to anxiety and depression.

Further research suggests that plant-derived cannabinoids like THC and CBD reduce anxiety by manipulating the Endocannabinoid system by binding to endocannabinoid receptors.

However, the majority of evidence for cannabinoids’ anxiolytic properties comes from small-scale animal models and human studies.

A 2011 study discovered that CBD can aid in the treatment of social anxiety disorder.

Another recent scientific review published in “Psychiatric Online” concludes that cannabinoids can aid in the treatment of mood disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Another 2014 study using animal models confirmed that CBD had anti-anxiety and antidepressant properties.

A 2019 research, however, found some mixed results when studying the effects of different cannabinoids on anxiety on animal models. The review stated that CBD did not show any anxiolytic or antidepressant effect in the lab animals. In comparison, THC had some promising impact in relieving anxiety and depression.

However, we also have anecdotal evidence gathered from the experiences of cannabinoid users that affirm that CBD supplements can help manage anxiety, mood disorders, and depression.

These results led cannabinoid-enthusiasts to question which cannabinoid is more effective for someone dealing with anxiety.

Which Cannabinoid is Right for You When Dealing With Anxiety?

According to research and anecdotal evidence, CBD and Delta-8 THC have nearly identical anti-anxiety effects. However, before deciding which cannabinoid is best for you, you should consider a few factors.

Delta-8 THC may be detected in drug tests. So, if your workplace requires random drug tests, taking Delta-8 for anxiety is not a good idea. CBD is a much safer option because it does not appear on drug tests.

According to a 2004 comparative study, Delta-8 THC can increase appetite and food consumption. If you’re trying to lose weight and stay fit, consuming Delta-8 may interfere with your diet. CBD, on the other hand, is known to suppress appetite and aid in weight loss.
