First on our list of mold types is Alternaria. Alternaria belongs to the allergenic category of mold. It means that exposure to this form of mold can result in allergic reactions like coughing and sneezing. Alternaria is mostly found in bathtubs and showers. Usually, it is brown is color and has a velvet-like texture. It can spread fast, and if left to stay can cause asthma and similar health issues.
Acremonium
Next on our list is Acremonium. Initially, Acremonium tends to start slow, and with time, it develops a moist and powdery texture. This form of mold can take several colors such as pink, white, orange and grey. It thrives in moist areas like window sealants, humidifiers, drain pans and cooling coils. The presence of Acremonium is far more deadly, as it can lead to bone marrow problems and a weakened immune system.
Aspergillus 
Another entrant to the category of allergenic mold is the Aspergillus. This kind of mold isn’t uncommon in most American indoors. It appears in the form of thick layers, and the spores are mostly flask-shaped. Aspergillus has more than 180 species, and can result in various allergic reactions, and respiratory diseases.
Chaetomium
This kind of mold is a direct product of water damage, and has a texture that resembles cotton. Initially, this kind of mold is white and grayish, but with time turns black. This mold type can easily be detected through the strange and musty odor it gives off. If you witness this mold in your living space or office, make sure not to touch it, for touching it can result in skin infections, and nail problems.
PENICILLIN
Last but not the least; penicillin is one of the most common types of mold. Belonging to the category of allergenic mold, Penicillin has a velvety texture, and is greenish-blue in color. Just like its unhealthy counterparts, penicillin too can move around quickly. Exposure to this form of mold can cause respiratory issues, and sometimes asthma. This form of mold generates from water damage and isn’t uncommon in wallpapers and mattresses.
