How the COVID pandemic affected the workplace

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on corporate offices around the world. In this episode of Business Coaching News, Jason Ballard sits down with Ben Davis to discuss how the pandemic has changed the way corporate offices operate.

How COVID-19 Has Changed the Way We Work

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many companies to re-evaluate the way they do business. For many, this has meant a shift to working from home and offices being vacant. This has had several implications for corporate offices.

First, there has been a move to more Zoom meetings and other forms of virtual communication. This was a terrific way to ensure people could still communicate and collaborate, even when they were not in the same physical space. Even now as things are shifting to the “new normal”, many companies are still using Zoom and video conferencing more than having in person meetings.

Second, there has been a shift in the way people work from home. Many people have had to set up home offices to be able to effectively work from home. This has often meant setting up a dedicated space in the home, separating work and personal life, and making sure there is enough space and privacy to be able to focus on work.

Third, there has been a change in the way companies manage their office space. With so many people working from home, companies are re-thinking their office space needs. Often, this has meant downsizing to a smaller space or moving to a more flexible workspace.

As we move into the “new normal”, it is clear the corporate office will look different than it did pre-COVID. Companies will need to continue to adapt and change to meet the needs of their workers in this new environment.

What Does the Future Hold?

It is still unclear what the future holds for corporate offices. It is possible we will see a permanent shift to more remote work, or companies will move to more flexible office spaces.

Companies are realizing they can employ remote workers for less money, so they may decide to keep more employees working remotely even after the pandemic is over.

Or companies may find they prefer the flexibility of having a smaller office space and more employees working remotely. This could lead to a trend of companies downsizing their office space or moving to coworking spaces.

Only time will tell what the future of corporate offices will look like. However, one thing is certain: the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we work, and offices will need to continue to adapt to meet the needs of today’s workers.
