Are you experiencing severe headaches, fatigue, sore eyes, and breathing problems? Exposure to mold could be the culprit.

Do you find yourself suffering from chronic headaches or difficulty breathing?  Exposure to mold could be responsible for these problems.  The symptoms of mold exposure are similar to the symptoms of some infections and other health conditions. Prolonged exposure to mold can result in asthma, bronchitis and other respiratory problems.  Allergic reactions are one of the most common health issues related to mold.  It may not have occurred to you that mold exposure could be causing these health issues. A doctor’s diagnosis may take longer than usual because the doctor may not consider mold exposure as a cause of these problems.

Below are some of the most common symptoms of mold exposure.

Fungal Infections

Fungal infections are a common health condition that can be caused by mold exposure. They target your skin, sinuses, lungs and digestive tract.

Aching Joints and Stiffness

For some people mold exposure can result in Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS). One of the most common outcomes of CIRS is stiffness and joint pain.  If you are aware of mold growth in your home or office, make sure to have it professionally removed.

Headache

Headaches

Another symptom of mold exposure is severe headaches. The headaches can also be caused by poor sleeping habits, bad diet and excessive screen time.  If after taking medication and changing your habits, your headaches do not go away, you may want to investigate the possibility that you may be exposed to mold. Sometimes, because of prolonged mold exposure, the headaches can be so bad that your eyes start hurting.  When your eyes start to hurt, they may become sensitive to light as well.

Weakness and Fatigue

On their own, weakness and fatigue are not symptoms of mold exposure.  There is a difference between tiredness and fatigue.  Tiredness is a product of poor sleep patterns and long working hours.  Fatigue, on the other hand, makes you long for rest, all the time.  If your fatigue is combined with weakness, the culprit could be mold. To rule out mold as the cause of your weakness and fatigue, consult your physician and definitely get your home inspected for mold growth.

Disturbed Memory and Weak Concentration

Brain fog or difficulty remembering things and disturbed memory could be caused by anxiety or stress. However, if these conditions are paired with skin rashes, it could be due to mold exposure.  You might even experience shortness of breath.  To eliminate the possibility that mold exposure is the cause of these issues have your home professionally inspected.

Red Eyes

Another symptom of mold exposure is redness of the eyes.  Sore, red eyes are not only painful, but they can also affect your vision.  You may even experience mood swings and excessive sweating as a result of mold exposure.

These are some of the many health risks and symptoms related to mold exposure.  If you have or are currently experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned above, make sure to have your home professionally inspected for mold.
