Brown and Brown Insurance Company is located in Orange, California and they recently contacted us about creating a lobby sign for their new building. They recently moved into a nice, new, larger building and needed a ‘showy’ lobby sign. When we spoke we discussed a number of options, ideas and possibilities. They ultimately decided to go with a translucent graphic because they wanted something similar to the translucent graphic that they already had on a glass wall in their old building.
Brown & Brown Insurance is one of the largest insurance intermediary organizations in the United States (as ranked by Business Insurance magazine) and with offices in 38 states, they provide access to virtually all forms of insurance protection from property and casualty to life, employee benefits, surety bonds, inland marine and more.
To make their lobby sign we started with a 3/8” thick clear acrylic. We beveled the edges and then flame polished the edges so the lobby sign would have the same sheen as the face of the acrylic. The graphic in the sign is digitally printed on clear vinyl. After we printed it on the clear vinyl we then apply it to the back of the acrylic panel. Last, we applied white opaque vinyl over the back of the graphic to make the colors pop.
To mount the sign on the wall we used four stainless steel stand offs. As you can see in the image above the stand offs give the sign a “floating” look on the wall.
