The image below is of a sign we made for Bowls (Salads, Rice Bowls & More), a restaurant located on the Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach , California.
One of our clients, the owner of Chronic Tacos in Long Beach and Mission Viejo, CA, also owns Bowls. We were recently contacted to update their sign. Bowls is located on the Pacific Coast Highway so we really wanted to make sure to design a sign that really has some pop. With all the people driving by on the highway it’s a great way to pull customers in with a sign that looks great and can be seen from a long ways away.
As you can see in the image above the sign we made is placed on a huge wooden lattice backdrop. The old sign was where the new sign is located but it was on a very weathered wood platform. In order to spruce it up a bit and make the new sign have some great ‘pop’ we covered the wood with thin matte black aluminum. It really helped to make the new channel letters stand out even during the day when the sign isn’t lit up.
The letters are individual channel letters with white LED lights that are lit through the faces. The cabinet below, which is sometimes called a “hot dog” because of it’s shape, is made just like the channel letters are made except, of course, it has a different shape. The graphics and color were all digitally printed and then assembled on location. The green turned out great and looks just like neon when lit at night even though they’re LED lights.
