Pasco, WA – How to Clean and Disinfect Your Office to Prevent Covid-19 Spread

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Wondering how to clean and disinfect your office to keep it safe from COVID-19? Read on to find out!

With the number of COVID-19 cases increasing daily, many businesses have started working remotely; however, some companies simply don’t have that liberty. For a company that works with proprietary systems and sensitive material, it simply cannot ask its employees to work remotely.Awareness

So, how can you ensure that it is well-protected and safe from the spread of COVID-19? The first step that the office needs to take is to clean and disinfect the premises daily to minimize the threat of coronavirus.

How to Clean and Disinfect Your Office

  • Cleaning staff should use disposable masks, gloves, and gowns to ensure that they don’t contract the virus. Once they have cleaned and disinfected the office, make sure that they properly dispose of their protective wear.
  • As a rule of thumb, always start with cleaning and then move on to disinfecting. Clean each surface with a detergent or soap and water solution to remove particles that might carry COVID-19 from the surface. This way, the disinfectant is more effective in killing the virus as it directly hits the surface.
  • For disinfectants, you can review this list of EPA-approved disinfectants or use a household solution of bleach and water. For larger surfaces such as floors, mix 5 tablespoons of bleach in a gallon of water. For spray bottle application on smaller surfaces, mix 4 teaspoons of bleach in one quart of water.
  • For smaller surfaces, you can also use disinfecting wipes. However, make sure to clean just one item at a time and ensure that the surface stays wet for 4 minutes to kill the virus.
  • Make sure to clean and disinfect all high-touch surfaces and objects such as tables, doorknobs, chairs, light switches, keyboards, handles, remotes, phone receivers, desks, toilets, faucets, sinks, etc.
  • Also, make sure to clean and disinfect all shared electronics and equipment in your office.

Spread COVID-19 Awareness via Signage in Your Workplace

The best way to navigate the threat of COVID-19 and make sure that your employees stay safe is to maintain clear and concise communication with them. This will enable you to support your employees through this tough time. Here’s what you can do:

  • Offer clear and well-worded updates that are relevant to your industry, location, and current work culture. Make sure to communicate in a calm and timely manner.
  • Offer various channels of two-way communication and support. Create a safe and approachable space for your staff to reach out with their needs and concerns and address them accordingly.
  • Put up signs around your office that remind everyone about proper safety conduct such as cleaning recommendations, symptom checks, social distancing, etc.

If you suspect that someone in your office has contracted COVID-19, send them home right away and call a disinfecting service to clean and disinfect your office.
