Matte Black Car Wraps “Paint it Blackâ€!
If you have ever seen one, the chances are you would have blurted out something like “Wow, did you see that, now that is differentâ€! Love ‘em or hate them, matte black wraps are all the rage. Not just for expensive and exotic cars. We get frequent requests for wrapping car sections such as chrome trims, roofs, and stripes.Â
Most full matte black wraps are for personal use but we have found it to be popular in commercial use too when used as the background color on a vehicle to show the company logos and images. This works really well when used with contrasting colors such as orange.Â
Car wraps made from vinyl protect the original paint from scratches, stone chips and UV. Folks are wrapping their cars in matte black not only because it is a fashion statement like after-market wheels, but because the benefit in cost savings to paint the car in matte black paint is considerable, some 3 times the cost of wrapping. One additional benefit of car wraps, when the time comes to sell the vehicle, if like all fashion trends the matte black thing is “outâ€, that vinyl wrap just comes straight off with some professional help, and the car is back to its original condition without damage. That’s why car wraps are increasingly popular with leased contracts.Â
Matte black installs require an added bit of skill to apply the vinyl. You want to avoid the original paint showing at all which means the wrap process is different from most wrap installations. All trims, headlights, door mirrors are removed and each car panel is wrapped individually to avoid any seams and any evidence that there is vinyl there at all. A sign of a quality install is when close up the matte black looks like a quality paint job.
As the Rolling Stones sang back in 1966, “I see a line of cars and they’re all painted blackâ€.
