When is a banner not a banner?
When it is an effective promotional medium, of course!
Banners are probably the most popular form of promotional signage used today. They are quick to produce, cost effective, and great for outdoor use as well as indoor. But like any kind of promotional signage, whether it is a billboard, a garden sign, a trade show pop-up, or a car wrap, it should be designed to capture the attention of the intended viewers.
This means making full use of a 4 color digital printing process that can provide depth of color, shadows and gradients. These days, cut-vinyl lettering on banners just does not cut the mustard. These signs are bland, cheap looking, and go un-noticed.
Some key points to remember when thinking of an effective banner:
-
Size the banner correctly and take consideration of the viewing distance and how it will be installed
-
Make use of bright colors that will capture the attention of passing traffic
-
Keep the message simple and size the letters large enough to be read easily and from a distance
-
Consider the life of the banner. If you want to reuse the banner, consider two things:
-
Use sewn hems rather than taped hems
-
Do not add dates such as promotional events that will be make the banner redundant; otherwise, consider replaceable cut-vinyl letters for dates that may be changed out.
-
-
Know how it is going to be installed before you make the banner. Consider the number of grommets and how many ground stakes are required to ensure the banner does not flop-out and die. If mounting on a wall, remember that a city permit may be required that may cost00 per month.
Contacting a sign company that can advise you on the effective use of banners to maximize your message will not cost more but will provide total impact with modern vinyl printing.Â
