How much will my sign cost?
It may not come as a surprise, but this is not the first question prospects usually ask. Depending on the type of sign, it does come a close third or forth. There are several things to qualify before the pricing question, which will ensure the prospect has accurate information in which to make an informed decision.  So often, clients may not have a sign specification and may just ask for a sign on their building. In these cases, the sign company is available to advise and guide them through the many choices and options available to be able to create a noticeable and compelling sign. Choices such as material, color variances, size, lead-time, and maintenance may all affect the price.
For example, a lady recently asked how much her store-front sign would cost per inch size of letter. When asked for a little more information, such as letter depth, number of letters, overall height, whether she preferred a channel letter or dimensional type construction, or even illuminated or non-illuminated, the answers were not forthcoming.
In another case with a different customer, their preference was to have a store-front sign like their neighbor. When surveyed, engineering and priced, the proposal for channel letters of aluminum construction, including returns and a white painted face, the customer thought the sign looked beautiful but exceeded their budget.
So don’t be surprised if your sign company asks a question with another question; if they are asked “how much does my sign costâ€, and a constructive response could be “do you have a budget to work within?â€Â This is usually a “sign†that the client may have already put a cap on the scope of the project, which adversely affects the proposal. This may save a lot of time and allow the sign company to optimize their proposal and to provide the very best sign that meets your specific requirements.  In the case of the last example, we proposed an aluminum face with foam returns and met the budgetery contstraint even with the cost of the permit and processing included.
