What does hyperlocal mean?

Hyperlocal search is when you are not interested in marketing to a large area but instead to a very defined area. A car repair shop does need to market to all of Houston but only to their general area. Thus the term hyperlocal search.

Some of our ideas here have been done for a car mechanic in Houston, TX.

Here are a few ideas on how we marketed the car repair garage hyper-locally.

  1. Build up the entire hyperlocal area. Highlight the entire area you are in and not just your company. Since you are wanting your area to stand out then highlight the area and you will even be found for items that are not your business necessarily but could link back to your business. They mechanics eat the tacos from the taqueria so make a link.
  2. Map Apps and Sites. Google My Business, Yelp My Business, etc… Whatever map people use to search, make sure you have a listing and its properly filled out.
  3. The “Face” of your business shouldn’t be a logo. It should be a person but the person could have the logo on their shirt, or even standing in front of the logo. Whatever you choose, remember that people connect with other people, not logos. Unless of course you logo is a large red M, then stick with a person. Disney uses mickey’s face even though their logo is really the word Disney in fancy cursive.
  4. Reviews! If people are using your business then chances are they have friends in the area and referrals speak volumes over anything else.
  5. Sponsorships can go a long way. Do you already sponsor a team or an event in the area? Then people can start linking that event back to you. Use your parking lot space creatively and have events in the parking lot that are family friendly and you will get noticed. Promise.

Those are 4 simple ideas on how to rank hyperlocally. None of the ideas are hard but can take a bit of planning to pull them off.
