A local screen-printing company reached out to Click and Create to help improve their search engine rankings in Houston, TX. After discussing project expectations and what key performance indicators we would be tracking, we agreed to take on the project.

Phase 1 – Keyword Research & Site Crawl

The first phase in any Local SEO project at Click and Create is to conduct keyword research in order to determine which keywords have a high search volume. We look for keywords that have the right blend of search volume and ranking difficulty scores so we know which keywords will be most profitable and most worthy of our efforts. Once the initial keyword research was complete, we sent over our list to the client to finalize and agree upon a set of keywords.

We also conduct a crawl of the live site to determine if there are any glaring errors that need immediate attention. With this client, that was not the case, but there were some lower priority optimizations that were necessary

Phase 2 – Local Search Engine Optimization

Our local search engine optimization process begins with an audit of existing citations. We ensured that the clients name, address, and phone number were all up to date and consistent across existing citations. When we came across any inconsistencies, we were able to fix them in a timely manner. We also search for citation opportunities that the client is not taking advantage of and add their NAP to those locations.

Additionally, we optimize the existing pages on site for local searches and, if necessary, develop additional content in order to target the keywords we determined. In this case, the client’s website was slightly lacking in content and it was necessary to develop two new pages for the website in order to rank for the keywords we were interested in.

 

Phase 3 – Reporting & Tweaking

Once the initial phases are complete, we continuously monitor and report on our key performance indicators, like rankings and web traffic, and make adjustments to the on-site and off-site strategy to improve performance if necessary. We also begin to target new keywords and develop content for them if necessary.
