Houston, TX – In-Home Laundry Room Lighting & Commercial Laundromat Lighting

Posted in: Industry News

When considering lighting for the house, one room that is easily looked over is the laundry room. There are always lighting tips for better light in the kitchen and bathrooms, but what about the laundry room? This room will look different for everyone. For some, it can be small, and for some, it can be more expansive. Some laundry rooms may be in the basement, while others are on the main level. But no matter what type of laundry room you have, it still needs quality lighting.

Additionally, some commercial laundromats are often left dimly lit, reducing their comfortability for patrons and increasing the electric bill for the owners. Whether you’re looking to upgrade laundromat lighting in a commercial building or simply improve the lighting in your at-home laundry room, here are some options to consider.

Natural Lighting

Of course, like in every room in a house or business, natural lighting is always best. If your in-home laundry room has a window or your laundromat has several, they can receive some natural lighting throughout the day. If natural lighting is an issue or you’re more concerned about proper lighting at night, LED lighting is going to be the best option. Not only are LED lights long-lasting, cost-effective, and energy-efficient, but they also come in many colors, so you could essentially find a color that mimics natural lighting as closely as possible. But you may also want your laundry room or laundromat to be brighter to be able to see better when switching loads or folding clothes. In this instance, a Color Rendering Index, or CRI, closer to 100 will be best.

Layered Lighting

Another option to consider for the best laundry room and laundromat lighting is layered lighting. Not only do you want lighting overhead, but you may also want accent lighting or task lighting as well. A variety of lighting types can help depending on what tasks are being performed. Under-cabinet lighting for any cabinets in the laundry room would be considered accent lighting and could be beneficial for this space.
