Consider Quality of Light

Two factors used to determine quality LED lighting are CRI and CCT.  CRI is the ability for lighting to reproduce colors accurately.  Higher CRI is better.  CCT is the color appearance of the white light.  The most efficient LEDs have high CRIs and low CCTs.  Configuring the lighting specs needed for industrial spaces and the high output required can reduce efficiency by up to ten percent.  Be sure to compare each LED lighting fixture to make sure you are getting the most efficiency out of each.

Other Factors to Consider

Although CRI and CCT are important to consider for efficiency over time, there are also other factors involved.  It is also important to note that degrading reflectors, yellowing lenses, or higher temperatures can also lead to lighting depreciation over time.

A stable temperature is essential for optimizing LED lighting performance and lifespan.  Some low-cost LED lighting fixtures are equipped with drivers that will only last for 25,000-50,000 hours within a certain temperature.  Elevated temperatures reduce lifespan even more.  Be sure the light fixture is prepared to manage the LED driver for longer life.
