• Signs must be mounted at eye level so everyone can see them. If a sign is mounted too high or too low, it could cause problems for visually impaired people or limited mobility issues. The sign should also be free from glare and located away from windows, doors, and other light-reflecting surfaces so no one has trouble reading it. Positioning signs on walls or poles further away from walkways will help keep them safe from damage caused by foot traffic.
• Your Braille text must be at least 3/4-inch tall and meet specific spacing guidelines.
• The background color of this example sign is white, and the lettering is black and raised 1/32 inch above the sign's surface, except for any raised border or background material used under it to provide contrast.
• There should be a 0.059-0.063-inch difference in the diameter of the dot's base (1.5 to 1.6 mm).
• The sign shall be located in a prominent location that is readily visible to the intended users of the facility. For example, the sign must be installed 48 inches or less above the finished floor.
• The sign shall comply with the technical requirements for accessible signs in Section 703 of the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.
