San Carlos, CA – Interior PVC Directional Signs For Trader Joe’s Retail Store.

BY: CHERYL ARCHER, SignWorks Inc.

Last week was another busy one for SignWorks with lots of work for Trader Joe’s.  We shipped numerous 12” x 5” DO NOT BLOCK and NOT AN EIXT signs to a variety of stores, including the San Carlos and Los Angeles, CA stores and others in Fort Lauderdale, FL and New York, NY.  Not to mention several laminated posters (one each of four different sizes) for eight of the Midwest stores.

In fact, we also shipped our first order for two stanchion frames to Austin, TX on Monday.  The specific type of stanchion we sent allows for two 22” x 28” sign/poster inserts.  These types of sign frames stand on the floor and are used a lot by retailers, hotels, banks and by corporate entities to display a variety of different types of information.

And, this week we will be working on decals (200 each) of two different types, one 8” X 8” and the other an oval shaped one measuring 10” by 6”.  We plan to ship these on Friday, but more about that later.

Thankfully, we have all of the Trader Joe’s art files are loaded onto our system for these and other signs and decals.  Most recently, we had to redesign two decals because the original art was not available.  Sometimes we have to modify the cut vinyl decals to reflect varying store hours at different locations. Their art files include several banners, parking signs, posts, signicades, delineators, and the like.  Trader Joe’s orders are processed very quickly and we ship the majority of them in a matter of days.  Like many retailers, they a variety of cut vinyl decals including red address lettering for store windows, as well as for the store name and operating hours. We pre-mask all of their decals to make them easier to install.

Trader Joe’s has a well-established brand identity which they have developed over several years.  The stores are very popular where I live and I love the brand!  I shop there frequently because the products are well priced and because of the large selection of fruits, vegetables, breads, cheeses, wines and so much more.

The company was founded in 1958 by Joe Coulombe. It began when Joe took over a small chain of convenience stores around the LA area and called them Pronto Markets.  After ten years it became obvious that the convenience store formula needed some tweaking so Joe decided to open his first Trader Joe’s store in 1967 in Pasadena, CA.  When he became aware of the changing demographics he decided to use his G. I. Bill benefits to garner a better education.  At that point that he decided to deliver something different and the nautical theme he decided on certainly has paid off!  Team members still consider themselves “traders on the culinary seas” and are known for being nice, helpful, and well informed, as well as for their bright, tropical-patterned shirts.

SignWorks considers itself a go to source for many types of retail signs and graphics, and we’ve been supplying Bay Area businesses with signs and graphics for almost thirteen years.  No matter the need or sign type, we are happy to lend our expertise on any upcoming sign project! Just give us a call at (510) 357-2000 and one of our team members will be happy to help.  We offer design, fabrication and installion services for everything from small decals to large building banners and lots of things in between.   For more information about our product offering, just visit our website to view our project photos and blog posts.
