SignWorks recently conducted a site survey for a new client who needs to add three evacuation maps to the roof level of their building. Though they had sent pictures and a copy of the roof level building plans we wanted to confirm the location of the egress path, along with the placement of things like fire extinguishers, pull stations and the like, to ensure they are placed correctly on the maps. Our technician is also able to confirm that the wall space is sufficient or if resizing the maps are more appropriate. In fact, the site visit confirmed that the size of the new maps needed to be adjusted to mirror those on the other floors at 16.75” wide by 20” tall.
And, it’s not just evacuation and fire safety signs that require site surveys! Recently we performed a detailed site survey for Arizona based, Cree Industrial Arts, who needed site specific data related to some LED signs they were adding for a client located in San Leandro. Sometimes these surveys require lots of pictures and measuring wall spaces to ensure that what is being proposed will fit in the space allocated. Most of these surveys require the completion of a detailed checklist comprised of many pages.
When conducting site surveys for building renovation or construction projects the details will include marking sign location placement and, in the case of exterior sign posts, checking for underground utilities prior to digging for sign pole placement/installation.
