SignWorks has completed one of two projects for Cahill Contractors, specifically the ½” thick 12” tall brushed aluminum dimensional lettering spelling out the school’s name, the three 12” by 20” Evacuation maps and several ADA (Americans with Disabilities) room, exit, fire safety and rest room signs of various sizes. These ADA signs have both tactile and braille elements that help the visually challenged navigate and access buildings more easily. The evacuation maps feature non-glare acrylic lens to maximize visibility in smoky conditions where lighting may be compromised.
Our work consisted of preparing detailed submittal drawings cataloging all the signs and their locations and were based on a complete review of the building plans. Once reviewed by Cahill and their architect we made any necessary corrections and worked with our wholesalers to get the signs fabricated. Working through our wholesaler, Gemini, we went through a proofing and ordering process that the lettering in the client’s hands, earlier this month. We continue to confidently use this wholesaler given the quality of their products and the lifetime warranty they carry. Similarly, we work almost exclusively with one wholesale ADA supplier located in the Midwest.
Other Cahill projects have included two previous Oakland schools, specifically Madison Park Academy and Calvin Simmons schools. We also worked with them on signage for the Coliseum Transit Village. In each case we supplied interior and exterior ADA signs and dimensional lettering working through the same wholesalers. And, Cahill is a local Bay Area contractor with over 100 years of building experience throughout the San Francisco Bay. They pride themselves on doing things the right way whether in business or in construction. They offer construction and building services across a variety of market segments and have the financial strength to bid and bond very large building projects. Their seasoned staff has the experience to do it all correctly.
