SignWorks was the original signage vendor a few years back for the renovation of the 20 story 75 Hawthorne building completed by Turner Construction. Recently, Chicago based Skender approached us about redoing the 5th Floor evacuation maps as part of the renovations they were doing that had changed the configuration of the 5th floor space. The design palate for the building was already established and even though two of the evacuation maps were being scaled down in size to 15” by 33”, they wanted the maps to match the others found throughout the building. The two larger evacuation maps were to remain sized at 19” by 39”.
We immediately went to work laying out the maps using the building core drawings that were sent to us and noting the egress path and symbols. We are also always careful to be sure that in reducing the size that we complied with the San Francisco Fire Department guidelines specifying the text height, corridor widths, map colors, etc.

We are not able to post a picture just yet but we’re very proud of our continuing role in supplying design services and custom thermal molded ADA (Americans with Disabilities) evacuation signs as fabricated by our wholesaler. While we also offer other types of ADA signs and maps, these highly stylized maps offer integral braille/tactile that is molded into the sheeting material itself. The brown and white color palette matches the signage throughout the building.
