We were first contacted by this client on January 17. A tenant improvement project in Hayward needed Evacuation Map and ADA Exit signs fast or the project would not pass a fire department inspection scheduled for the coming Monday. The company, Forza Construction, is located in Southern California and had been charged with adding a 2nd floor to an existing building on Crocker Avenue in Hayward.
The signage aspect of the project involved creating three 14” X 14” evacuation maps, eleven 6” X 6” Exit (pictured) and Exit Route signs, and a 5” Wheelchair Accessibility decal. Working closely with the client on map details such as the egress path and locations for various symbols, SignWorks design staff was able to lay out each of the three maps, along with the lay outs for the Exit and Exit Route signs by that Friday. The client was then able to have the drawings copied and hung in place in time for the Monday inspection!
Once approvals were received that Monday, we placed the ADA Exit/Exit Route rush sign order with our wholesaler and began fabrication of the evacuation maps and decal locally. We delivered the items that were produced locally on Thursday, January 25 and received confirmation from our wholesaler that the rush order we placed would ship on Friday (to arrive in Hayward by January 31)! Obviously, we can’t always achieve such wonderful production metrics but we are very proud that we were able to exceed our client’s expectation this time around.
