We were first contacted about a month ago by Tektive Design, a consulting company that focuses on sustainable residential design. The firm was working on a design project and wanted to place project identification signs at the job site. This is often the case with construction and remodeling projects alike, where the contractor or architect wants to advertise their work and attract the attention of passersby and potential new customers.
In this case, the 24” wide by 18” tall aluminum signs, with vinyl graphics, are being mounted with zip ties to a chain link fence surrounding the job site. The initial concern was that the aluminum needed to be thick enough to not warp or bow while exposed to exterior weather or wind. As such, we decided on the .063 aluminum sign blanks which were cut to size. Ten signs in all.
Our designer worked with the client to integrate the company logo and color scheme, along with a contact phone number and web address, into the layout. Once approved the prints were fabricated using a wide format printer and over-laminate, each was then applied to the individual sign blanks. Holes were drilled in the corners to facilitate attaching the signs to the chain link fence.
Tektive Design is based in Palo Alto and focuses on performative and sustainable residential design for residential properties throughout Northern California. The approach is to intensify the connection between client, the dwelling space and the surrounding ecosystem. The principle holds a California Architects License along with degrees from Stanford and Yale.
