We’re not new to exterior building signs and thought we would take a moment to discuss some of the many styles and types of building signs. Nowadays, large and small companies tend to brand the building that house their operation. This can vary from a prominent logo coupled with the business name, to just the name of the business.

For high rise buildings the choice tends to be dimensional or channel letters. The above picture shows dimensional lettering as selected by a corporate client, Beltman Relocation Group in San Leandro. And, in the case of large corporations, retailers and financial concerns, the tendency is toward illuminated channel letters and logos. This makes sense given that night time visibility is critical to many retailers.
Another retailer favorite is the illuminated cabinet sign. The base cabinet is fabricated in metal with an Acrylic or LEXAN sign face that contains graphics or spells out the name of the business. Retailers with glass store fronts will also add vinyl graphics on their windows with store hours or other types of marketing and merchandising information.
For condominium and apartment complexes we see lots of stand-alone monument signs. One favorite is the masonry style monument but these are rapidly being replaced with faux stone (armorized foam). They are fabricated to look like stone but they holds up to the elements and to car crashes much better than actual stone. Our vendor of choice for these types of monument signs is Peachtree City Foamcraft (http://www.foamcraft.info/). A quick perusal of their website will give you a very pleasant surprise. And, the pricing compared to a masonry style monument will be significantly lower. Another alternative, especially if a more rustic look is required is the use of sand blasted signs in Redwood, Cedar or HDU (High Density Urethane). HDU is the most environmentally friendly of the three and is impervious to bird droppings, rot and the like.
As shown in the picture above sandblasted monument signs are also a favorite with churches, parks and recreational facilities who prefer a rustic wood like look.
